Check this out!!
This is a project I would like a group to start maybe in March. My niece did a great job on this quilt. It seems that there isn’t enough of me to go around and to sew everything that I need to do.This might be why

I used my cricut to cut the hearts to go around the valentines throw that I am making. I was so excited that it worked. I ironed the fabric on the wonder under and cut it into 6×12 pieces. Then I used the cricut program to arrange four hearts onto the cutting pad and cliked on cut. It cu the hearts fast. I did enough to go all the way around the quilt in about an hour. Now I just have to blanket stitch around them. I have a deadline of Sunday to finish because I made plans to quilt it then. I can’t wait. This is the fun part of owning a store.
Well I worked hard all day today. I didn’t realize I had put up that many Christmas decorations. But I was glad to put everything away and start new projects. I started a scalloped edge wall hanging or small throw. I got the idea from two different customers that I had on Friday and Saturday. On Friday the comment was that they had seen a toile throw with scalloped edge out of a Christmas print and it was nice. So that got me excited about the Sweethearts Toile from RJR that I had been admiring for weeks. Then on Saturday, I help another customer pick fabric for the intertwined heart runner and placemat in the Art to Heart Love book. I could not stop thinking about the hearts. Then I put the two together. I will make a intertwined heart scalloped edge toile throw for Valentines. The best of both worlds.
I started it about 4 hours ago. But didn’t go together as quickly as it did in my head. I had to stop because of the boys but will work on it hard tomorrow. I brought home the red for the hearts and I was going to cut them out by hand. But I am thinking about using the cricut tomorrow. I have not tried that but I guess I will later. Check back for the pic of the finished project.
I want to have a day for finishing or starting a project. There will be no charge for the class/day. You would just come with what you are working on or want to work on and work at the store. It is always fun to see what others are doing and it also inspires you to do something else. It is a great brainstorming technique. I want it to be on a Friday afternoon/night. The probelm is that I can’t think of a catchy name for the sewing bee. Is there any suggestions out there?
This is the first of twelve blocks that we will be doing this year. I will have one block each month. I didn’t have time to make the entire quilt so we are going to do block by block until I get the sample finished. The class will be January 19th. There is no set time so it leaves it up to you. It should take you approximately an hour to complete what you need to complete in class. If you finish the block within a week and bring it back for me to see I will give you next month fabric kit free. $5.00 value (little incentive for you to finish your blocks) I want you to be successfull with your projects. The pattern that we are using is call Building Blocks by Bits n pieces.
I am choosing different colors than they used. I thought it would be fun to choose color that go along with the month. I did blues and shinny white for winter and snowballs and the Feburary block I choose pinks and white…. Let me know if you are interested in the Block of the Month Quilt. I think it is a winner!!!
The Christmas Table Runners were a hit. I enjoyed seeing all of the varations of colors. It is amazing what changing a color can do for the apperance. I found this pattern in a magazine and changed it up for Valentines Day. I used pinks.
I have been in a pink mood lately. I will let you choose any color combinations that you want for this. All it takes is 5 fat quarters and 1 3/8 yard for the backing and center applique square/diamond. The class will be January 13th at 7 pm or January 16th at 1:00 pm. The cost will be $15.00 plus supplies. Let me know if you are interested. Would be happy to have to come and learn in class and as always laugh a lot.
